Refractive Lens Exchange, or clear lensectomy, is the method of improving focus by removing the natural lens of the eye and replacing it with a carefully calculated intraocular lens (IOL).
This technique is based on the same principle as modern day cataract surgery. This treatment option extends the range of refractive errors that can be treated, particularly for longsightedness and astigmatism.
